History of Nice Day To Go To The Club
When you get a call from Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald, you know it's him as soon as you pick up. At the time, Tom (Daybed) had just started playing at the Port Noarlunga Football Club (Fitzy's hometown club) and Daybed Records was putting on 100-person gigs on stages made of pallets around the Mid Coast - so Fitzy decided to connect the dots.
That's when the random call from Fitzy came, wanting to put on a music festival to help raise some much needed money for the club. Just subtly adding that the Cosmic Psychos and Bad//Dreems were already keen... so we were off to a good start.
We're now into our 5th consecutive year and it's still about having our favourite bands, new and old, from Australia and beyond, play on the back of a truck on our local footy oval.
Our dear friend Mark Tipple made a documentary about the first one, it's probably the best way to get an idea of the ethos and story of Nice Day To Go To The Club.
See you in the pit.
