"Well, as I recall, Jack and Tom were having a yarn and decided they'd like to form some sort of partnership to promote great music in the south. So they called the partnership Daybed Records. I never understood that, but that's okay.

Since then, they've gone from strength to strength. I couldn't be more proud of them."

One day, Jack got tired of promoting his own music. Just felt a little weird and maybe somewhat narcissistic. With this sense of weirdness, he thought maybe making up a separate thing, to support the music at the time, could help soften the blow. A record label - whatever that means?

From there Jack reached out to old friend Tom to see if he wanted to help him with this new idea he had. With literally no idea what a record label actually does, Tom was in. Thus began 'Daybed Records'.

Catching up every Sunday at Jack's old rental at Moana, the two would cook dinner and spin ideas on random stuff they could do to support music in the area. All written on a little whiteboard. The original daybed was there, where friends used to crash after nights out. This daybed was symbolic of a place where everyone was welcome, which is what Daybed Records hopes to represent.

Using the now Daybed Records motto 'Music, the arts, or anything worth doing' as the basis for all decisions, if anything was deemed 'worth doing' at the time - they'd try and do it.

Now a few years in, they hope to still be true to this motto and hopefully keep going as long as they can.
